Not an easy one, nor a quick render. The fractal consists of two layers, one crystalline, or transparent, and the other dark opaque carbon-like. I started with rendering the crystal, which I had already tried in one of the scenes in "Our Fractal Brains". The render took extremely long, maybe as much as months. The carbon-render was a lot quicker. I rendered out a third layer, one I could use to mix the two together in After Effects. Essentially this was a black-and-white map, that I tweaked using the audio, giving me a dynamic mix map. The ending of the piece is actually the same as the beginning, this time only the crystal, and mirrored.
